Your role
Reporting to the National Claims Manager, the Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates and settles commercial and personal property claims.
What you bring to the position
- Minimum 5 years of claims adjusting experience (property)
- CIP designation or working towards same to meet licensing requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and investigative skills
- Strong time management, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities
- Bilingual (French / English) an asset
What you will do
- Collect and analyze claims information through investigation
- Evaluate coverages, exclusions and liability of various property policies
- Examine subscription claims
- Communicate regularly with subscribers and Lead Adjuster on subscription files
- Maintain timely and accurate records and reserves throughout claim handling
- Provide timely reports (e.g. Large Loss Reports) and file presentations, as required, to Claims Supervisor / Manager
- Attend and present at Large Loss Meetings as required
- Negotiate settlement (or denial)
- Assist with quarterly claims audits as required
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with both claims vendors and clients
- Provide exceptional service
- Provide timely reports and file presentations to National Claims Manager
- Work closely with Underwriting Department on risk assessment
- Work both independently and as part of the Claims team
- Provide mentorship and technical consultation as needed
- Actively participate with team in Claims Department projects and ad hoc tasks
