Senior Project Manager - Global Software Development Team

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Project Manager to join a dynamic Global Development team. This role is based in Vancouver and involves frequent travel to various locations including Europe and the US.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee all phases of multiple software development projects within agile scrum teams, which include software developers, product owners, and test engineers.

The successful candidate will manage project schedules, engage with both internal and external stakeholders, and handle project risks and issues to ensure successful project completion.

Additional responsibilities include managing customer expectations and collaborating with various departments to ensure project delivery success.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle, including project plans, status updates, and budget reports for several projects, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Advocate for and ensure adherence to agile processes, providing mentorship and guidance as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, varying in size, lifecycle phase, geography, and time zone.
  • Lead and coach cross-functional project teams to ensure maximum participation, productivity, and successful delivery, including Product Owners, Developers, QA teams, Professional Services Engineers, and Customers.
  • Occasionally direct a Junior PM or Project Coordinator to assist in project delivery.
  • Implement and roll out SAFe processes within the organization.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance processes are followed rigorously.
  • Manage project risks, mitigation strategies, and reporting.
  • Engage in stakeholder management.
  • Provide comprehensive project status, financial, and budget reports.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing large, complex projects independently.
  • Formal training and qualifications such as PRINCE2 or PMI.
  • Scrum certification and relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles in software development.
  • Ability to articulate the project management lifecycle clearly.
  • Experience in designing and implementing software development / technology processes.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and management abilities.
  • Proven experience in managing senior stakeholders and project teams.
  • Perfect fluency in verbal and written English.
  • Experience with customer-facing interactions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Skills in account management and business analytics.
  • Experience with SAFe practices.
  • Experience in deploying new web-based products.
  • Fluency in another major European language.
  • Knowledge of databases, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Background in programming.
