Engineering Manager (Mechanical Design)

Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to join this team. The Engineering Manager will oversee the engineering department, ensuring the successful execution of projects, the development of innovative solutions, and the growth and development of our engineering team.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership and Management :

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure project success and professional growth.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering department, aligning with the company’s goals and objectives.

Project Management :

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure seamless project integration and client satisfaction.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Technical Expertise :

• Provide technical leadership and support in the design, development, and implementation of automation and manufacturing solutions.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Conduct technical reviews and assessments to ensure the quality and reliability of engineering solutions.

Resource Management :

• Manage departmental resources, including budgeting, staffing, and equipment procurement, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement :

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with delivered solutions.
• Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support proposal development and client presentations.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation in Ontario is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven experience in the automation and manufacturing industry, particularly in the automotive sector.
• Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools, including SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM (the vault) and other relevant CAD software at expert level, is a MUST.
• 3D Modelling and designing automation equipment (preferably in plastics) for the automotive industry is a MUST.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
