Machine Operator

Position Summary

  • Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights)

  • This position is 100% on-site at the Windsor site.

This position is located in Windsor, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for operating the soft capsule machines to manufacture soft gel capsules and for utilizing the printing machines to print soft gel capsules. As a result of properly following the relevant SOP's, the Machine Operator will also monitor and maintain the quality of capsules produced.

The Role:

  • Confer with operator from previous shift - during shift change, regarding necessary facts and current events related to the daily operation of the soft capsule machine.

  • Operate encapsulation machines in accordance with manufacturing directions (Encapsulation Master), SOPs, and GMP requirements, while completing and maintaining all required encapsulation documentation and operating records.

  • Spread capsules on trays; stack, label, and transfer trays to assigned drying tunnels; perform required quality checks (caps, weight, seams, dimensions); verify gelatin and fill tanks for temperature, colour, batch number, and receiver sequence; and record all required findings.

  • Preform changeover activities as required Ensure proper housekeeping including cleaning machines, floors, tumblers, handling scrap net and garbage

  • Operate printing machines in accordance with manufacturing directions (Print Master) and SOPs, perform capsule quality checks, and complete and maintain all required printing operation documentation and records.

  • May be asked to work extended hours (overtime), especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met. Assist with training of employees

  • Trouble shooting, correcting problems, repairs or issuing repair orders on soft capsule machines, printing machines and related equipment as required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

The Candidate:

  • High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required.

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility is preferred.

  • Strong mathematical skills in order to compute simple calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percent and averages).

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Possess a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of automation systems is an asset

  • This position does not qualify for sponsorship.

  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.

  • The employee's role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, necessitating manual dexterity.

  • Occasionally, the position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.

Pay:

The start hourly rate for this position is $30.70/Hr. The trained hourly rate for this position is $33.20/Hr. Catalent is a global employer, and this compensation does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
