Job Description
Our client, Shel-Bar Electronic Industries Ltd, based in Airdrie, is hiring a Controller with 4+ years of experience, preferably as a CPA, to join their quickly growing, industry leading, Security Systems Integration company.
Who is our client ? A Canadian company specializing in the Integration of Security, Life Safety and Information Systems.
They utilize an out of the box approach to their customers' design, installation, and integration security needs. Progressive and fast-growing, this electrical / security service company that takes great pride in providing their clients with professional trade experience.
Their priority is client-focused medium to large scale access control and video management systems.
This role will be responsible for overseeing financial operations and ensuring the integrity of accounting practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance while providing strategic insights to support the company's growth.
This role requires strong leadership abilities and thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Salary :
$90,000 - $110,000 per year
Hours of Work :
8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm, Monday to Friday (Full-time)
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage and contribute to all aspects of full-cycle accounting.
- Balance and maintain accurate ledgers.
- Manage real-time document control of all transactions.
- Match purchase orders with invoices.
- Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management and ownership.
- Monitor office expenses as well as tally and enter cash receipts.
- Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, as well as balance sheets.
- Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating and business taxes.
Requirements
- An University degree or College diploma in accounting or in business with an emphasis on accounting - accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) required.
- Must have 4+ years of relevant experience, preferable as a Controller or in a similar financial management role.
- Experience in payroll management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliation, budgeting, and account analysis.
- Must have a strong knowledge of the Canadian tax system, including completion / filing of T2.
- Multi-currency related knowledge is an asset.
- Being technically adept is critical. Developing automation and looking for efficiencies is a priority.
- Ability to analyze accurately and reconcile accounts.
- A thorough understanding of Canada's tax system and the ability to identify possible errors and / or omissions.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail combined with strong organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work overtime when necessary and flexibility to work with changing priorities.
