We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager who will be responsible for the identification, assessment and monitoring of the various risks, with a focus on operational risk.
You will work closely with the management team who lead the different areas in our business to mitigate the risks whilst maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
This role is part of the Risk function reporting to the TSX Trust Chief Risk Officer.
Key accountabilities
- Act as an independent advisor to the Business Units (BUs) by facilitating the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) of the BUs and their processes to ensure that the significant risks within the BUs are addressed and providing effective challenge;
- Analyze the RCSA submissions to ensure that they meet the expectations of the ERM program including the treatment of business objectives, risk identification and alignment with TSX Trust’s risk appetite, adequacy of internal controls, identification of control gaps and remedial action for gaps;
- Contribute to the development, implementation and management of the operational risk framework, risk appetite framework, policies, procedures and other risk management practices;
- Ensure that the organizations risk management policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable regulations and TMX’s ERM Framework;
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the current business and functional areas to adequately assess risk exposures and impacts.
- Ensure that all material risks are identified, assessed, measured, managed, monitored and reported in the context of Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP);
- Providing guidance and direction with respect to the Business Resilience Management program including providing support in the business continuity and disaster recovery exercises;
- Support the CRO in the management of the corporate insurance program, including insurance renewals, claims, insurance reporting and certificates of insurance requests;
- Manage the internal operational risk event / incident collection and analysis, The analysis of events / incidents enables the assessment of TSXT’s exposure to operational risk, its causes and the effectiveness of controls;
- Identify and assess the resolution of issues which could provide reasonable assurance that risks are understood and managed within the company’s risk appetite;
- To escalate to the appropriate stakeholders any significant changes to the risk environment, deteriorating exposures and evidence of emerging risks;
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with the functional areas, external stakeholders and regulators, as applicable;
- Manage the process of ensuringthe timely resolution of internal and external audit issues with the assistance of the appropriate business areas;
Manage the Fraud incident management program including leading the associated risk assessments and monitoring through resolution, and reporting.
Must haves
Related post-secondary education such asMaster or Bachelor degree (e.g. in business administration, risk / mathematics, finance or accounting) or equivalent education / experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, or compliance
Knowledge of risk and control frameworks such as COSO, Sarbanes-Oxley, COBIT
Strong understanding of the financial ecosystem, the securities industry and the regulatory structure, specifically OSFI, Basel II and III
A broad understanding of enterprise risk, operational risk, technology risk, and regulatory compliance risk
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment and managing multiple deadlines and priorities
Ability to provide constructive challenges to the business and ensure risks are addressed appropriately
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to break down complex situations into manageable parts in a systematic manner
Demonstrated ability to perform process analysis, process mapping and experience in designing controls
Ability to understand and interpret regulations and policies
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative working relationship with multiple areas and complex business lines
Nice to haves
Experience in Business Continuity (BIAs, disaster recovery, recovery strategy, exercises) is an asset
Strong knowledge of the operational and regulatory complexities impacting the business from a strategic, operational and regulatory perspective
Experience in leading and delivering risk assessments, stress testing and scenario analysis
