The position of Project Lead - Security reports to the Director, Operations. You are expected to devote your full-time efforts to the business of Paladin. This position will require extensive travel across Canada and working within multiple correctional facilities regularly. The role is expected to become fully immersed and specialized in all common technologies (software and hardware) and systems deployed in correctional facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Leading installation and servicing of electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV and intrusion alarms.
- Pre‑wiring, installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Preparing and executing Acceptance Testing Plans that meet contract, client and future service needs.
- Assisting in system design and layout.
- Providing customer training for proper system usage and responding to technical inquiries.
- Building relationships with clients and prospects for future opportunities.
- Administrative duties including project updates, completing and filing all project documentation.
- Being on‑call before or after regular hours, and / or on a day when not regularly scheduled to work.
- Working night shifts when needed based on project / service requirements.
- Guiding technicians and subcontractors as necessary to deliver effectively on schedule.
- Communicating progress and challenges effectively with the project management team.
- Troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software of integrated systems.
- Working with manufacturers’ technical support teams to resolve system issues.
- Participating in after‑hours on‑call rotation.
- Completing detailed and accurate paperwork, and assisting with as‑built documentation.
- Building confidence with clients and stakeholders and enhancing the organization’s reputation across the industry.
- Adhering to Paladin’s Quality and Safety program.
- Leading projects at a site level and managing a team of junior technicians.
- Maintaining a high level of safety and professionalism.
- Working at required heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding, lifts or other equipment.
- Working in confined spaces as necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Progressive leadership experience in a construction environment with experience managing projects.Experience managing low‑voltage, security or structured cabling projects.Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture.Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.Competency in conflict and crisis management.Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sedona and project software.Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet multiple deadlines.Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Post‑secondary education in engineering, architecture, construction management or technology.Experience with systems such as Integrated Video Surveillance, Perimeter Intrusion, FDS, MDS, Radar, Multi‑Layered Networking, Integrated Watch Tour Systems and PLC Door Control Systems.Trades qualification (electrical, low‑voltage, controls, HVAC).Experience working on correctional facilities.Bilingual in French and English.PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES :
Proper hand and power tool operations and safety.Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.Ability to complete projects on time and on budget.Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations.Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.Ability to function as an effective team member.Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolve.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Regularly required to stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl and stoop.Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects and type on a keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Power tools will be used as part of the job.Occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.Work at heights over 1.8 m (6 ft).WORKING CONDITIONS :
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, and occasional travel to and from job sites.May work in a typical office environment.Exposure to construction equipment and moderate noise levels.Confined space entry may be required.Work may involve high elevations.Seniority level
