The Senior Analyst, Underwriting is responsible for supporting the review and approval of residential mortgage and real estate applications in a timely and effective manner.

The role follows detailed instructions and documented procedures to negotiate, approve, recommend, or decline residential secured and unsecured mortgages and real estate applications within established guidelines and authorized lending limits.

This role requires you to live a maximum of a two hour radius from Vancouver

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the review and approval of residential mortgage and real estate applications in a timely and effective manner.
  • Negotiating, approving, declining, and recommending applications, within established Company processes, and guidelines. (end to end)
  • Gathering, reviewing, and assessing information and documentation to support each credit application within Company risk parameters and Insurer's guidelines.
  • Handling, as required, correspondence and telephone inquiries from internal business partners and external business partners such as insurers, appraisers, and solicitors.
  • Reviewing, preparing, and making considered recommendations to the Manager or senior underwriter where residential mortgage application is above authority limit.
  • Managing high work volumes to meet short timelines with a high level of quality and due diligence.

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of Retail mortgage underwriting experience. Mostly residential Mortgages.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating documents (income, down payment, offers, etc..)
  • End to end underwriting file experience
  • Good Understanding of risk mitigation
  • Excellent communication written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong Negotiation Skills
  • Strong Data Analytics skills : utilizing advanced Excel.
  • Technologically Savvy - (COINs, MMortgage, Simplii) are nice to have

Nice to Have :

  • Any broker or underwriting course experience
  • Credit risk analysis
  • Outlook and Excel skills
  • A university Degree
  • Familiarity with Canadian Rules and Regulations
