The New Westminster Police Department is actively recruiting passionate and community-oriented individuals to join our Community Engagement Unit on a volunteer basis. This role is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to community service and are eager to make a positive impact.
The NWPD is a mid-sized police department with over 200 employees. We are committed to having a professional and supportive workplace promoting employee equity, wellness, and fulfillment. We are a hard-working and welcoming team focused on doing great work and serving our community.
Responsibilities
As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to public safety, engage with the community, and support regular members in their various duties.
- Community Policing : Actively engage with the community through outreach initiatives, public events, and educational programs. Foster positive relationships to enhance public trust and safety.
- Crime Prevention : Participate in crime prevention programs, disseminate information on safety, and contribute to proactive initiatives aimed at reducing criminal activities within the community.
- Training and Professional Development : Attend police training sessions to assist the Training Unit in scenarios and administration of training initiatives.
- Availability : Be available to volunteer on a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Attend community events and programs as needed.

Hours of Work : This position is based on operational needs, with a minimum commitment of 6 hours a month. The successful applicants must commit to a full training day on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
