Job Description
- Able to work independently on specified scopes withminimal supervision required.
- Increasedleadership responsibilities providing coaching and delegating somedesign tasks to various individuals depending upon theindividual’s aptitude.
- Mentor andsupervise Mechanical Designers and review their work prior tosubmitting to Senior Mechanical Designer Senior MechanicalEngineers or Project Manager.
- Placing andsizing of distribution systems and equipment following industrystandards and
- Perform load calculations usingcompany provided software.
- Selection ofmechanical equipment working directly with suppliers andmanufacturer’s representatives.
- Preparation of schematic design design development andconstruction documents in either AutoCAD or REVIT
- Review your own work for errors and omissions prior tohaving supervisors review the work. Use the project reviewchecklist and clash detection software to assist in your review forall projects.
- Assist with the preparation ofdrawing and book specifications.
- Coordinationof mechanical systems and design with other disciplines.
- Identify and address the need for additional services andfees to project managers in a timely fashion.
- Assist with Contract Administration including shopdrawing review RFI responses and onsite review.
- May attend design and construction meetings with theclient other consultants and the contractors.
- Maintain project schedules and project budgets to trackwork progress and manpower resource utilization with assistancefrom the Project Manager.
- Strive to accomplishcompany goals of highquality workmanship and project timelinesthrough the continual improvement of workflows and designstandards.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering andaccreditation as a Professional Engineer : P. Eng. or PE in thejurisdiction in which they are working.
- Aminimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience in mechanical HVAC and Plumbing design is anasset.
- Strong understanding of mechanicalsystems including plumbing HVAC heating cooling air handlers andfire protection. Ability to interpret constructiondrawings.
- Strong knowledge of current codesand standards such as the local plumbing and local buildingcodes.
- Understanding of the principals behindbuilding heating and cooling load calculations.
- Understanding of software programs (Microsoft OfficeBluebeam AutoCAD REVIT etc.).
