Team Leader - Medical Claims Assessment

As a Claims Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the prompt examination and administration of claims while meeting the operation goals and objectives of Active Care Management.

What does your typical day look like?

• Oversee Claims Team Members;
• First point of contact for Claims Examiners regarding procedural and workflow issues;
• Participate and provide feedback with Claims Managers regarding personnel activity concerning hiring, training, development, and evaluation of Claim Examiner performance;
• Assure claims processing timeframes and deliveries are adhered to;
• Handle first level of disputes or complaints from clients / providers and escalate to manager when necessary;
• Prepare and review monthly reports;
• Train new Claims Examiners on functions of the Oversee the nesting period of new staff;
• Implement process and workflow changes when required to ensure quality of work metrics are met.

What skills and training do you need?

• A University degree or college diploma preferred, but not required;
• 2-3 years Claims Assessment experience;
• Full understanding of travel insurance, insurance terminology and claims management;
• Must be meeting or exceeding requirements of current position (Claims Assessment);
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
• Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills;
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;
• Show empathy, understanding and patience to customer needs and ability to deal with sensitive and stressful situations;
