Job Description :
Reporting to the Manager, Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL), the incumbent will serve as a lead resource for CAL in coordinating and supporting Accessible Learning Advisors. The incumbent has the specific responsibility for consultation and advisement of faculty, staff and students who are unclear about next steps regarding academic accommodation planning and / or challenges in the implementation process. The incumbent takes the lead role in liaising with the Academic Faculty and other service areas for the purpose of understanding issues, sharing student concerns, and presenting information about the Centre for Accessible Learning. The incumbent takes a coordinating and leadership role in the development and evaluation of training activities / presentations. The Accessible Learning Coordinator represents the Centre for Accessible Learning on College committees as required.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Ability to mentor, guide, and support Accessible Learning Advisors, ensuring consistency, accountability, and high service standards.
In‑depth understanding of disability‑related functional impacts, accommodation strategies, and post‑secondary learning environments.
Strong judgment in complex, sensitive, and high‑impact student cases, including risk assessment and escalation when required.
Proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, service units, and external professionals.
Clear, empathetic, and professional communication with diverse audiences, including students, families, faculty, and staff.
Knowledge of human rights legislation, confidentiality requirements, and institutional accommodation policies.
Ability to design and deliver engaging training, onboarding, and outreach initiatives.
Ability to analyze trends, evaluate services, and recommend improvements based on evidence and feedback.
Ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate projects, and support process improvement initiatives
Commitment to accessible, inclusive education and supporting diverse student needs.

Required Qualifications :
Minimum four (4) year degree or equivalent : Social Work, Disability Studies, Special Education, Psychology or a related discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years experience including :
In-depth knowledge of : A variety of disabilities and their functional limitations that may impact access to classroom learning.
Guidelines and legislation that determine disability supports at the post-secondary level. e.g., Human Rights Commission’s “Guidelines on Accommodating Persons with a Disability”, ACO1 - Academic Accommodation for Accessible Learning Policy, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
Post-secondary accommodations applicable to working with adults with disabilities.
Familiarity with assistive technology, college programs and services.
A commitment to the principles of empowerment, integration and inclusion, and demonstrated skills and ability in the following are required : Understanding of intersectionality and compounding impact of multiple identities.
Responding to student needs in a sensitive and positive manner. Utilizing judgment, discretion, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a client-centered environment.
Maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Facilitation, presentation, and outreach skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide mentorship and guidance to the Accessible Learning Advisor team.
Acting as initial point of contact as academic accommodation issues are escalated.
Experience working in a setting providing intake and direct services to individuals with disabilities and applied knowledge of interpreting and carrying out recommendations in disability documentation is required.
