Job Title : Child & Youth Care Worker Hourly Wage : $27.54 to $31.61 / hr
Location : Prince Rupert Union Grid Level : 11
Terms : Permanent Full Time Hours : Monday - Friday, Hours to be determined
35 hours per week (evenings, weekends may be required)

Position Overview
The Child & Youth Care Worker (CYCW) supports the inclusion of children and youth with identified developmental delays, disabilities, and / or neurodiverse needs into family and community life. The purpose of the program is to promote behavioural change and personal growth in children and youth who are having difficulties coping as a result of social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays. Under the direction of Therapy and / or Behaviour Services the CYCW provides individual intervention sessions, group programs and outreach services that are designed to increase community and life skills and enhance social networks based on established goal-focused plans for behavior management and social and life skills development.
Target Population – Children and youth ages 0-19 with identified disabilities and / or support needs who require goal-focused services to promote functional independence in community and life skills.
Job Duties and Expectations
Works under the supervision of the Behavioural Analyst / Consultant, and or Therapist(s)
- Implements strategies and appropriate therapies for supporting infants and young children with support needs or with likelihood of developmental delay as developed by the supervising professional(s)
- Provide direct goal-oriented assistance to a child, youth and / or family.
- Plan and conduct individual and / or group sessions to promote skill building in identified need areas.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for children and youth providing age-appropriate activities with adaptations as needed.
- Collect information for planning and progress reporting.
- Maintain accurate and current file records on all clients.
- Work within the community to utilize local resources and programs.
- Participate in case conferencing as required.
- Connects family to CYSN worker when it is indicted that they qualify for Disability Services.
- Participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings.
- Flexibility is required to work a variety of shifts to accommodate appointments after school, in the evenings, and on weekends.
