Job description

Description

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious and technically strong Process Engineer to join one of Canada's most exciting new uranium developments and play a pivotal role in bringing a world-class mining operation from design into production in 2031.

Greenfield mining projects of this scale are uncommon in Saskatchewan. The opportunity to contribute from detailed engineering and construction through commissioning, startup, optimization, and operations is even rarer. At Patterson Lake South (PLS), you won't simply inherit established systems and processes; you'll help create them.

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of the processing facility, contributing to engineering decisions that will influence the plant's safety, performance, reliability, and operational excellence throughout its lifecycle. Collaborating with a diverse team of project leaders, metallurgists, operations personnel, and engineering specialists, you will gain hands-on experience across all phases of project development, from detailed design and construction through commissioning, startup, and operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to expand your technical capabilities, develop a broad understanding of mine and mill development, and gain experience that is rarely available outside of a major greenfield project.

This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth, technical development, and increasing responsibility. You will develop expertise in uranium processing, project delivery, commissioning, operational readiness, and process optimization while building relationships with industry-leading professionals across multiple disciplines.

Your work will directly contribute to the successful development of the Patterson Lake South Project, helping establish the foundation for a safe, sustainable, and high-performing operation. For engineers who are motivated by challenge, ownership, and the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy, this is a chance to help build one of Canada's next-generation uranium mines and make a meaningful impact on the future of the nuclear energy industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of the PLS processing facility, helping advance the project from detailed engineering through construction, commissioning, startup, and operations.
  • Prepare and review key process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mass balances, process control philosophies, and equipment specifications.
  • Support the evaluation, development, and optimization of process designs through metallurgical test work, process modelling, simulation, and engineering studies.
  • Collaborate with engineering consultants, technical specialists, project teams, and future operations personnel to develop safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible processing solutions.
  • Contribute to equipment selection, plant design reviews, and technical decision-making to support long-term plant performance, reliability, and operability.
  • Prepare technical documentation and engineering reports to support project development activities, regulatory submissions, and internal decision-making.
  • Participate in process safety reviews, HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and operational readiness initiatives to support the safe design and operation of the facility.
  • Assist with the development of commissioning plans, operating procedures, training materials, performance testing programs, and plant startup activities.
  • Support construction, commissioning, startup, and ramp-up activities while working closely with project and operations teams to transition the facility into production.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and operational performance while helping establish the technical standards and operating practices of a new uranium operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of process engineering experience in uranium processing, hydrometallurgical operations, or a similar environment.
  • Experience with process modelling software such as METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Aspen Plus, or similar platforms.
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative project environment.

Why Join Paladin Canada?

• Competitive remuneration and annual incentive program
• Comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage, a Health Spending Account (HSA), and RRSP matching
• Career development opportunities within a growing, global company
• A supportive, inclusive, and safety-focused workplace culture
• Opportunity to contribute to the development of a major Saskatchewan uranium project
• Exposure to multiple phases of project development, including engineering, construction, commissioning, and future operations

Equal Employment Opportunity

Paladin is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a workplace that reflects the diversity of our communities. We encourage applications from women, Indigenous Peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. Paladin Canada is a subsidiary of Paladin Energy, an established global uranium producer with scale and growth. We have a multi-decade production and development pipeline in the world’s premier uranium jurisdictions – Namibia, Canada and Australia.

Our Canadian operations are growing rapidly, and this means there are great career opportunities for motivated individuals. Bring your energy to uranium and help us advance our Patterson Lake South (PLS) Project, which is located in the world’s premier high-grade uranium mining jurisdiction, the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan.

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to be part of Paladin Canada’s exciting growth chapter and make a meaningful contribution to the company and wider community.

We're building something new and by joining our team, you’ll become part of Paladin Canada’s exciting future as a major employer and contributor to the Saskatchewan community.

Across our operations, we are focused on sustainability, safety and stakeholder engagement. We have a clear commitment to delivering long-term value and contributing to global decarbonization efforts through the supply of uranium for nuclear energy.

We’re advancing Saskatchewan’s uranium future, and you can be part of it.
