This position supports our front office afternoon/evening shift as well as provides back up for the day shift. Provides patient reception to services within the Medical Imaging department by obtaining and recording biographic and insurance/billing information at the time of service, ordering the correct imaging procedure in a timely manner and providing a healing and supportive environment for our customers while in our care.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Previous experience in hospital or medical office setting preferred.
3. Prior experience with health insurance and medical terminology preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
2. Performs accurate and timely entry of patient demographic information; communicates directly with patient and/or family to obtain personal, biographical, insurance, and financial information.
3. Provides high quality reception services to patients, families, physicians and staff. Appropriately manages all lobby and waiting room areas by setting patient expectations concerning wait time, keeps track of patients, and informs nursing staff of any relevant issues.
4. Collects patient co-pay when appropriate and issues receipts, prepares deposit information.
5. Works closely with physician offices, services department and patients to make sure all required pre-authorizations are initiated.
6. Obtains Advanced Beneficiary Notices and counsels the patient on the necessity for document based on criteria for technical or professional services not covered by Medicare or third party payers.
7. Counsels patients and/or families on hospital payment options and financials assistance as appropriate.
8. Places reminder calls to the patient for future services, also serves to pre-registers patients for services scheduled in the future when applicable.
9. Completes accurate charge entry in assigned areas as appropriate.
10. Scans registration documents into DR system when applicable.
11. Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients
12. Schedules patient services with patients as required in ancillary departments as necessary for centralized scheduling same day add-on procedures
13. Assists with any other assigned projects within Radiology and interdepartmentally when appropriate.
14. Demonstrates ability to deal with a broad range of personalities and situation in a fast-paced, high priority environment.
15. Must be able to remain calm and poised with multiple interruptions and demands.
