MAKING AN IMPACT
The Editor, Cancer Information, will provide high‑quality editorial support for priority projects in 2026, including a financial guidance email series and relaunch of the Cancer Basics video series. This role focuses on ensuring that cancer information is clear, accurate, accessible, and aligned with CCS standards.
Working closely with content writers, project managers, and subject matter experts, the editor will refine content across digital, print, and other formats. The successful candidate brings strong editing and plain‑language expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to support efficient content production processes across the team.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Edit cancer-related information in various formats.
- Edit and proofread digital cancer information, including webpages, micro-copy and email content.
- Develop, edit and proofread scripts and descriptive transcripts for videos or animated assets.
- Develop, edit, and proofread print materials such as booklets or fact sheets.
- Ensure all content is clear, accurate, inclusive, and aligned with the CCS writing manual and plain‑language principles.
Support and maintain editorial standards and guidelines
- Apply and advise on grammar, tone, style, and in-house CCS editorial standards.
- Collaborate with content writers and cross‑functional partners by providing clear comments, guidance, and rationale for edits.
- Ensure consistent use of plain language, inclusive language, and accessibility best practices.
- Contribute to updates to editorial guidelines, templates, and content standards.
- Stay current with evolving editorial, language and accessibility standards relevant to consumer health information.
Collaborate with writers, project managers, and project teams on priority initiatives
- Partner with project managers and writers to support content workflows to meet deliverables (e.g., Cancer Basics video series relaunch, financial guidance email series).
- Help expand the reach and clarity of cancer information through plain‑language practices and user‑centred editing.[RD3]
- Support enterprise content initiatives, including governance or standards committees
- Contribute to our culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity (DIBE) by ensuring that all staff feel represented, valued, and heard across all aspects of their identity, including gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, and sexuality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., English, Communications, Health Communications).
- Additional training or professional development in editing or plain language is required.
- Professional designation (e.g., Editors Canada) considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience editing health content, applying plain‑language and inclusive language principles.
- Minimum 5 years editing for digital, including accessibility and usability considerations.
- Experience with consumer health content, cancer‑related information or medical information is an asset.
- Experience working in component content management systems and other CMSs.
- Familiarity with SEO, information architecture, taxonomy, and digital content production workflows.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted writing and editing tools (e.g., language models, grammar enhancement tools, content‑analysis tools).
- Excellent editorial judgement; strong grammar, clarity, and stylistic editing skills.
- Strong communication skills and ablily to collaborate with writers, PMs, and SMEs.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently within project timelines.
- Comfortable using editing tools, content management systems, and collaboration platforms.
- English is required, French/Bilingualism (French /English) is an asset due to the organization’s nationwide operations.
