Job description

The Opportunity

ZE Power Engineering is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric utility industry. We are currently seeking a Civil CAD Technician who would oversee the production drawings deliverables for various project and client requirements. Management of these deliverables starts from data consolidation (basemap) through proposed design/analysis to issued production and construction field review (as-built).

Responsibilities

  • Collect, review, and process topographic survey data, utility information, and GIS datasets.
  • Production of drawing packages, including site plans, plan views, profiles, and detailed design drawings for underground electrical utilities.
  • Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D for surface modeling, alignments, and profiles.
  • Prepare as-built drawings based on field data and redline markups.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with client and company standards.
  • Collaborate closely with designers to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent.
  • Support design teams by identifying and verifying existing underground utilities using available data sources.
  • Support the production of overhead utility drawings as required.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, models, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Revise drawings based on internal reviews, client feedback, and design changes.
  • Perform quality checks on drawings prior to submission.
  • Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

We're looking for proactive, self-motivated individuals who take ownership of their work. Ideal candidates are:

  • Graduate from an accredited post-secondary program in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD/BIM Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a CAD-related role within a professional engineering or consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing site plans, processing topographic survey data, and working with georeferenced drawings at an urban scale.
  • Experience producing underground utility drawings (e.g., electrical, telecom, municipal) is preferred.
  • Prior experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, particularly working with alignments and profiles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping software is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment, while attending in-office meetings as required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality work and meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong interest in ongoing professional development.
