Job description

Structural Dynamics Engineer

Guelph, Ontario

Motioneering - World leaders in motion control solutions

At Motioneering Inc., we are at the forefront of transforming dynamic structures through cutting-edge damping technology. As pioneers in structural motion-control and damping technology, we’ve engineered solutions for some of the world’s most iconic structures, including Taipei 101, Shanghai Tower, and the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Our performance-based damping® systems push the boundaries of what dynamic structures can achieve—technically and commercially.

As part of the RWDI Group, we specialize in applied structural dynamics and advanced damping systems, bringing over 25 years of global experience to complex engineering challenges. From concept to completion, we deliver innovative solutions that make ambitious projects possible.

Are you passionate about optimizing civil structures under wind, seismic, or pedestrian loads? Do you thrive in a consulting environment where collaboration drives success? Join our team and apply your expertise in performance-based design to create resilient, efficient, and groundbreaking structures.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with Visionaries: Work alongside owners, architects, engineers, fabricators, suppliers, and clients to solve complex engineering problems and bring innovative solutions to life.
  • Lead Projects from Start to Finish: Take charge of planning and coordinating the technical aspects of motion-control projects, from the initial concept through to successful implementation.
  • Dive into Structural Dynamics: Engage with wind tunnel data, perform spectral and time-domain analysis, and apply programming and data analytics to uncover insights. Occasionally head out to project sites to capture dynamic measurements firsthand, bringing real-world context to your engineering solutions.
  • Build Meaningful Relationships: Develop strong connections with clients and colleagues, becoming a trusted advisor who can influence and inspire.
  • Unleash Your Creativity: Utilize your exceptional creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills to drive projects forward and achieve outstanding results.

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced civil or mechanical engineering degree(s) including vibration and structural dynamics.
  • Minimum 2 years of applied experience in real-world structural engineering including working on performance-based design from a wind and/or seismic perspective.
  • Well-versed in structural modeling (SAP, ETABS, etc.) and its pitfalls. Ability to quickly interpret structural models and drawings.
  • Familiarity with supplemental damping systems such as tuned mass dampers, water-based dampers and distributing damping is an asset.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously handle and prioritize several projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and passport and be able to travel internationally without restrictions.
  • Existing, or eligible for, registration with the Professional Engineers – Ontario (P.Eng.). Professional Engineering status in other jurisdictions is a bonus.

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to redefine possible.
  • Salary range: $83,000.00 - 103,500.00
  • Group health benefits.
  • Proactive and ongoing training, education, and a Learning Spending Account.
  • Fitness Spending Account
  • An abundance of career paths and opportunities to advance.
