Position Overview

Under the direction of the Lead - Nutrition & Food Services, Coordinator/Supervisor, Cook, the Dietary Clerk is responsible for operating the electronic menu management software program and the provision of a variety of clerical and administrative support duties for the Nutrition and Food Services Department.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year full time health care food service or institutional food services experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with menu management software programming and its capabilities.
  • Previous cash-handling experience.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course.

  • For Regional Sites Only: Demonstrated proficiency of Electronic Menu Management Information System (EMMIS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all therapeutic and texture modified diets and supplements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/Email.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with dexterity, speed and efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to evolving techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to operate departmental equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift items up to 1-5 kg (2.2-11 lbs) constantly, 6-11kg (13.2 - 24 lbs) occasionally and 23 kg (50 lbs) seldomly.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • Work evenings and weekends as outlined in work rotations or as necessary.
