Northern Lakes College has the following full time ongoing position:
Facilities Trades Technician
Salary Range: $67,308 to $89,028 per year
Location: Slave Lake
Start date: April 2025 to ongoing
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Trade Certification in a related trade such as; Heavy Equipment Operator, Welder, Industrial Mechanic, Steamfitter-pipefitter, or Plumber 3 to 5 years’ experience, trade-related preferred.
- Valid class 1 driver’s license would be an asset.
- Heavy equipment operation experience would be an asset
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
- Travel is expected in this position.
- A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Major Job Function:
The Facilities Trades Technician reporting to the Manager, Asset Management and Special Projects will aid the Facilities and Trades Departments. Direction for Trades and Resource Technology related projects will be coordinated from the Chair, Trades and Resource Technology. Responsibilities are diverse and may include purchasing, inventory management, license management, creating reports for asset inventories, setup and support for the apprenticeship and mobile training labs. When required this position will also assist with logistics and support of trades programs. The Facilities Trades Technician is part of a diverse team and should work effectively as part of this team, as well as work well independently. Facilities Trades Technician must have good organizational, time management and computer skills. Travel is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contact and work with College campuses, communities and other post-secondary institutions for delivery and setup of mobile trades trailers.
- Lead setup of equipment with the mobile trades labs and permanent College lab facilities.
- Work with contractors and College personnel for equipment moves and logistics.
- Assist with delivery specific program scheduling and planning.
- Lead mobile delivery setup and take down of Mobile Trades Lab.
- Assist with materials preparation of trades’ program supplies
- Inventory Management – creating inventory lists and implementing tracking systems, tracking inventory movements and entering information into a database (Access).
- Acquiring quotes for potential projects
- Assist with purchasing related equipment and material needed, following the College purchasing procedures, maintaining a good working relationship with vendors.
- Assist with Facilities projects as required.
Successful candidate must provide Journeyperson certificates to Human Resources prior to commencement.
This position is covered under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
