Position Summary

We are seeking new grads and established family physicians to provide office-based comprehensive primary care.

Easily accessible to the 400 series highways, Orillia is a growing community of 35,000, serving a catchment population of 100,000. Catchment area includes Orillia, Severn, Oro-Medonte, Ramara and Chippewas (Mnjikaning) of Rama First Nations.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice and care for a diverse patient population. Wide age range of patients provides an opportunity for broad based primary care PLUS options for obstetrics, palliative care and hospital work (including ER, hospitalist, and OR assisting). High needs and older patients waiting for new physicians in the community.

When you are part of a Family Health Organization (FHO), your patients have access to; Chiropodists, Dietitians, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Registered Psychotherapists, Peer Support Worker, Developmental Paediatrician (School Success Program), Internists (CHF/COPD), Respirologist (COPD), Geriatrician, Psychiatrist, Kinesiologists, Chiropractors, robust Geriatric Outreach Team, 1 of 4 fully funded Transgender Health Programs in the province, robust MSK Program of Care, lead agency for the Rapid Access Clinic for Low Back Pain.

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is located in the City of Orillia providing a comprehensive range of programs and services including medical, surgical and emergency care, as well as outpatient services. Through OSMH’s regional programs we are able to offer kidney care, orthopedic care, sexual assault and domestic violence treatment, adult mental health care, seniors care, as well as pediatric and neonatal intensive care to patients throughout North Simcoe Muskoka and beyond.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
- Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
- Continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care
- Build to capacity within the first two years (new family physicians)
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Ontario Ministry of Health
- Work toward same day or next day access for the practice population
- Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needs
- Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
- EMR- Telus Practice Solutions and record all relevant patient details which is accessible to all collaborating team members

Benefits:
Annual leave/Vacation within FHO:
- 6 weeks + 1 week of Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Physician are eligible to apply for their own personal and professional benefits through the Ontario Medical Association or insurance provider of choice.
- The Pregnancy and Parental Benefit Program (PPLBP) is a benefit that gives eligible Ontario physicians up to 17 weeks of leave, up to a maximum of $1300/week.

Remuneration:
- Physician income will be based on blended capitation for those looking to join Family Health Organization (FHO). Billings to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and other reciprocal insurers. Earning potential will be dependent on roster size.
- Family Physicians that practice full time in eligible communities may be entitled for the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI). Township of Severn $86,123 and township of Ramara $85,699
