Job Description - Program Coordinator

Ignite3 is a summer learning experience that provides invited students in pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 with learning opportunities that complement and extend learning experiences that occurred throughout the school year. The Ignite3 summer programming is designed to maintain and / or increase literacy and numeracy skills through experiential learning.

A program coordinator will be hired to oversee the operation of the Ignite3 program at a selected school site. The program coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of Learning Facilitators. This person is responsible for ensuring that the program objectives and goals are met and ensures that the operation and implementation of the program runs smoothly.

Positions are available at one of these four sites :

  • Chancellor School
  • General Byng School
  • Prairie Sunrise School
  • Westgrove School

Employment Period

  • July 2, 2025 to August 15, 2025
  • Hours of Work

  • 7 consecutive hours per day (Monday to Friday) 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Program work hours are 8 : 30 AM – 4 : 00 PM Monday – Friday
  • Method of Employment

    Time sheets will be submitted to the Administration office in accordance with the Schedule of Submissions.

    Rate of Pay

    Base rate plus 4% vacation pay for a combined rate of $35.86 per hour.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect student data from a variety of sources.
  • Organize and implement the registration process at each site.
  • Organize the placement of students into classroom groups.
  • Collect Learning Facilitator time sheets and submit to the Administration Office.
  • Implement the summer programming schedule.
  • Ensure attendance is collected and recorded.
  • Contact parents and guardians of students who are absent and record information as necessary.
  • Plan and coordinate field trips and in-school activities, including booking locations, buses, etc.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of special events including the registration night and final celebration.
  • Establish community relationships and service-learning opportunities for students.
  • Supervise Learning Facilitators.
  • Outline roles, expectations, and responsibilities including break and lunchtime schedules, responsibilities for supervision and programming planning, field trip expectations, etc.
  • Explain and enforce school emergency procedures, as needed (ex. fire drills, lock down drills, accidents and incidents, etc.)
  • Maintain communication with parents (emails, phone calls).
  • Make any necessary announcements for the day and reflect or debrief as needed.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as needed.
  • Welcome, greet, and guide special guests and visitors to the designated location.
  • Qualifications

  • Certified teacher, preferably from Pembina Trails School Division.
  • Background in early and middle years education.
  • Current certification in First Aid & CPR would be an asset.
  • The successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and complete the Commit to Kids training. An additional 16.5 hours of training is required prior to program commencement which will require flexible hours. No additional compensation is provided for the training and is required to be completed by the candidates as a condition of employment.
