The Centre for Excellence is a legacy endowment to the Okanagan and includes operational vintage aircraft stored and maintained in a unique facility open to the public.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Heritage Fleet AME is responsible for performing maintenance and restoration work, at an exceptional level of fit and finish and to a high level of attention and detail, on a Fleet of Vintage aircraft at the KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence. The Heritage Fleet AME is expected to demonstrate effective and efficient operational skills, customer service, and technical proficiency. This position reports to the Heritage Fleet Chief Engineer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Restoration and Maintenance of Vintage Aircraft
  • Excellent knowledge of Standard Practices and Mechanics Systems, accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, engineering orders, test documents, manufacturer’s installation manuals
  • Ability to maintain a clean work area as job will be performed in a public space
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed
  • Ensure safe work and risk management practices, policies and procedures are followed including compliance with CARs and FARs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Safely operate ground support equipment

REQUIREMENTS

  • M1 and M2 License (or M1 and willingness to obtain M2)
  • Minimum 10 years experience as a licensed AME mechanic
  • Previous Warbird or Military Jet experience is an asset
  • Ability and desire to manage restoration projects
  • Technical Skills
  • Very strong working knowledge of the types of aircraft in the CFE fleet
  • Very strong working knowledge of Transport Canada and FAA regulations, as applicable
  • Strong fabrication skills
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills -CFE interaction with public and guests
  • Willing to take initiative to make personal and organizational improvements
  • Willing to participate in ongoing training and development
  • Demonstrated customer orientation, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as the ability to work independently
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Intranet/internet
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Passport – some travel required
  • Ability to hold a RAIC

LOCATION

The successful incumbent will be 100% on-site and will be based primarily Kelowna, BC.

SALARY

Transport Canada Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers earn an hourly wage starting at $37.28 up to $44.75with room to grow into Senior (up to $50.26)
