Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized nursing program. Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Certificate in Palliative Care Nursing (CNA) preferred. Valid BC driver's license.

Minimum of three (3) years recent, related experience in a specialized palliative care setting with community nursing experience, including one (1) year recent, related teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Leadership/supervisory experience an asset.

Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and teach adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including effective conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and respond effectively to the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs and issues of palliative patients and families in crisis.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with interdisciplinary team members, partners and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated program development and evaluation skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
