LEA provides geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and hazardous building materials testing services to Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the surrounding Gulf Islands, with offices in Nanaimo and Courtenay. Who You Are
We are looking for a hazardous materials technician to join our established team working out of our Nanaimo office.
You are a detailed oriented individual who enjoys working outside and in an office environment.
You are able to work as part of a team in a professional environment, but at the same time able to work independently with strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
You are comfortable and have experience working on construction sites and / or entering substandard environments.
You are a proactive person, but also someone who can react efficiently and effectively to manage problems.
Key Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those with relevant prior work experience and / or education. WorkSafe’s Surveyor and XRF Certifications are preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and control equipment and samples up to approximately 50 pounds.
- High school diploma, but preference will be given to those with relevant post-secondary technical education and / or training.
- You must possess a good command of the English language and be proficient in written and verbal communication.
- Experience with Microsoft suite of software (Word, Excel, etc.).
