Job description

Description

:

Amalgamated Dairies Limited (ADL) is a farmer-owned dairy cooperative headquartered in Prince Edward Island. Since 1953, we have grown into one of Atlantic Canada’s leading dairy manufacturers, processing more than 120 million litres of milk annually across multiple manufacturing facilities while employing over 375 team members.

As we continue to modernize our operations and invest in the future of our manufacturing network, we are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance strategy, improve asset reliability, and help build a high-performing maintenance organization that supports ADL’s long-term success.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in the continued evolution of ADL’s manufacturing operations. As a member of the Operations Leadership Team, you will help shape the future of maintenance by modernizing maintenance practices, strengthening asset performance, and supporting long-term operational success across our manufacturing network.

Working closely with Operations and other business leaders, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership across multiple manufacturing facilities. Success in this role means building a high-performing maintenance organization that improves equipment reliability, reduces unplanned downtime, supports capital investment, and helps position ADL for long-term growth.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary of $90,000 – $120,000 per year, with flexibility based on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage.
  • Virtual Health access for convenient care when you need it.
  • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions and expert financial guidance.
  • Personal Spending Account (PSA) to support health and well-being.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providing confidential support for personal and work-related challenges.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities to support professional growth.
  • Employee discounts and exclusive ADL perks.
  • The opportunity to be part of a respected, farmer-owned cooperative committed to supporting Prince Edward Island’s dairy industry.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop maintenance teams across multiple manufacturing facilities, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop maintenance leaders and skilled trades employees while supporting workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Build organizational capability through performance management, employee development, and continuous learning.

Maintenance Strategy & Reliability

  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability, maximize asset performance, and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Lead preventive, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance programs, including root cause failure analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), manufacturing reliability, and production performance.
  • Establish maintenance standards, planning and scheduling processes, CMMS utilization, and key performance indicators that support operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Asset Management & Capital Planning

  • Develop asset lifecycle strategies and prioritize maintenance investments based on risk, reliability, and business impact.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, optimize maintenance spending, and oversee contractor relationships and service agreements.
  • Lead equipment criticality assessments and reliability improvement initiatives while supporting capital planning and business case development.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Finance on modernization initiatives, facility improvements, and long-term asset management planning.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring safe maintenance practices across all facilities.
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience within manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing maintenance teams.
  • Demonstrated success implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance principles.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance performance reporting.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets and capital projects.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in dairy, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing.
  • Trades certification (Millwright, Industrial Electrician, Instrumentation Technician) and/or Engineering degree.
  • Multi-site manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Project management and capital project execution experience.
