Job Title: General Production Worker – Machine OperatorJob DescriptionThis role involves performing general production duties and operating custom machinery in a busy PVC pipe manufacturing facility. You will work with fabricated PVC fittings and related materials in a heavy industrial environment, supporting the production of components for the water and wastewater industry. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate custom production and fabrication machines used in the manufacturing of PVC pipe and fittings.
- Perform general labor tasks on the production floor, including material handling and basic machine support activities.
- Work in a custom shop environment to support the fabrication of specialized PVC fittings for industrial applications.
- Use hand tools and follow blueprints or production drawings to complete assigned tasks accurately.
- Monitor machinery during operation, identify basic mechanical issues, and communicate concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a hot, heavy industrial, and sometimes dirty environment.
- Lift, move, and position materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
- Collaborate with a production team of approximately 15–25 people to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Support shift transitions by communicating production status, issues, and priorities to coworkers and supervisors.
- Participate in training on day shift and apply learned procedures and best practices once moved to the afternoon shift.
Essential Skills- 3–4 years of heavy industrial experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Hands-on production and general labor experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven machine operation experience, ideally on custom or semi-custom equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools, machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Experience using hand tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints or production drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Comfort working in a tough, hot, and dirty heavy industrial environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of 15–25 people.
- Willingness and ability to work afternoon shifts after completing training on day shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in plastics manufacturing.
- Experience working with PVC materials.
- Background working with hot food-grade oil (such as glycol) in an industrial setting.
- Construction experience that demonstrates mechanical skills and comfort with tools and physical work.
- Previous shift work experience, particularly in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Valid Propane Counterbalance Forklift certification.
- Comfort operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Experience in a custom shop environment where products are fabricated to order.

Work Environment
You will work in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that produces custom PVC pipe and fabricated fittings. The environment is tough, hot, and can be dirty, requiring comfort with physically demanding work. The production team typically consists of 15–25 people, fostering a collaborative, hands-on atmosphere. The employer provides required manufacturing PPE, including gloves and arm protection. Training takes place on the day shift, Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm for approximately the first three months, depending on training progress. After training, you will transition to the afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday from 2:30 pm to midnight. The role involves working with industrial machinery, hand tools, and materials such as PVC and potentially hot oils, in a setting where safety procedures and protective equipment are essential.
