Job description

A highly regarded, global full-service law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Associate with 5–10 years of experience to join its dynamic disputes practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a litigation lawyer who enjoys handling sophisticated, high-value disputes across a broad range of industries while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a diverse caseload of complex commercial litigation matters with minimal supervision.
  • Represent clients through all phases of litigation, from initial strategy through trial or alternative dispute resolution.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, written submissions, and other litigation documents.
  • Appear before Alberta courts and participate in mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Maintain strong client relationships while providing strategic legal advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex, multi-party litigation and cross-disciplinary matters.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of commercial litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta court procedures, filings, and litigation practice.
  • Excellent advocacy, legal research, and persuasive writing skills.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation files.
  • Outstanding communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Experience representing clients across a variety of industries is an asset.
  • Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice law in Alberta.
