This exciting position for a determined Controller for an esteemed Consumer Goods company is being filled by Robert Half. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. You will join the leadership team in supporting the generation of innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenging the status quo, and fostering creativity in your department. Based in the Markham, Ontario area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.
How you will make an impact
- Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G / L analysis
- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
- Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
