Position Overview : We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to lead the financial team. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. Position Responsibilities : Maintain a documented system of accounting standard operating procedures Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the structure of the team for achieving the department's goals and objectives. Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and accounting policies and procedures. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions. Issue timely and complete financial statements Recommend benchmarks and key performance indicators against which measure the performance of company accounting operations Ensure cross functional alignment with other departments within the overall Finance umbrella and support accounting team members growth and development. Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management Lead and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit. Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Working knowledge of U.S. CPA practices and tax regulations, with a basic understanding of state-level taxes. Performing other duties as assigned and, on an ad-hoc basis, to support the company’s objectives Key Responsibilities : Financial Analysis and Management : Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Monitor financial performance and variances, providing insights for improvement. Accounting Oversight : Manage the accounting department and 4 employees , ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. Oversee the preparation of tax returns and liaise with external auditors. Internal Controls : Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement. Take responsibility for payroll Team Leadership : Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and financial strategies. Strategic Planning : Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and assist in identifying opportunities for growth and cost efficiencies. Qualifications :
