This position requires a deep understanding of the Canadian political landscape, strong political acumen, and a thorough awareness of the relationship between public and private sectors. The Manager will ensure alignment between the company’s strategic objectives and external stakeholder engagement, facilitating cohesive communication and policy strategies across regions. Day to Day Government Relations and Advocacy : Contribute to the creation and execution of a comprehensive government relations strategy to promote the company’s operational and policy interests. Monitor and assess political, regulatory, and policy changes in Canada, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on potential impacts to business operations. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and government relations efforts. Prepare briefing documents and background materials for government-related engagements. Industry Affairs : Stay up-to-date on industry trends, key players, and relevant organizations, including trade associations and stakeholders in the agri-food value chain. Partner with business divisions to address shared challenges, offering political expertise to navigate complex issues. Advocate for the company in industry forums, showcasing its contributions to Canadian agriculture, food security, and the broader agri-food sector. Develop internal strategy documents for effective stakeholder engagement and issue management. Stakeholder Relations : Support the Stakeholder Relations team’s efforts in building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Ensure consistent and effective communication strategies for stakeholder engagement. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Communications, Political Science, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in stakeholder relations, public relations, corporate communications, or a comparable role. Proven expertise in writing and editing business proposals, strategic briefs, and high-level documents for senior leadership. Demonstrated experience in crisis communication and effectively managing complex issues. In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, emerging trends, and public policy. Strong understanding of the Canadian political landscape and international trade relationships. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
