Job description

For over 80 years, John Brooks Company has been solving fluid handling challenges for customers in various industries/markets across Canada by providing a diverse selection of engineered products and innovative system designs, focusing on customized solutions consisting of filtration, pump, spray, and valve products.

THE ROLE

The Application Specialist I provides technical and sales support to customers by preparing quotations, processing orders, recommending products, and resolving customer inquiries. Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, this role helps ensure a high level of service while supporting sales growth, accurate order management, and successful project execution

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, review, and follow up on customer quotations
  • Provide technical support, product recommendations, costing, and proposal development
  • Translate customer requirements into accurate product and solution recommendations
  • Process customer orders and monitor order status through completion
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution
  • Communicate with customers by phone and email regarding products, orders, and technical inquiries
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and work with internal teams and manufacturers to resolve concerns
  • Deliver after sales support to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities and strengthening customer relationships
  • Prepare proposals based on customer requirements, market conditions, and product offerings
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quotes, orders, and projects
  • Compile and organize vendor documentation for customer projects
  • Support collections and payment follow up activities in partnership with the Accounting team
  • Follow established sales processes, systems, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma in a related field
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a technical sales, customer service, Inside sales, or related role
  • Proficiency with order entry and quoting systems (Epicor P21 or similar)
  • Understanding of customer service principles and best practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Desirable

  • Bilingual (English and French)

  • Fast-paced environment in a dynamic competitive industry
  • Daily customer and inter-departmental/branch communication via telephone calls, faxes, emails, and virtual meetings
