The Opportunity

SKYTRAC is a leader in transforming aviation communication through cutting-edge satellite and cellular technologies. Trusted by operators, OEMs, and organizations worldwide, SKYTRAC serves over 800 customers across all aerospace sectors. Our Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite solutions are redefining connectivity and reshaping the future of aviation.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Design Approval Organization (DAO). Reporting to the DAO Manager and working closely with engineering and program management teams, this role is responsible for coordinating and managing the execution of STC development programs. The Project Engineer ensures projects stay on schedule, actions are tracked to closure, documentation is controlled, and engineering teams are free to focus on technical work rather than project administration.

This is an in-office position, based in Kelowna, BC. Relocation support is available.

As a Project Engineer, responsibilities include:

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop, maintain, and track project schedules for concurrent STC development programs
  • Manage certification planning milestones, stage-gate reviews, and deliverable timelines across multiple programs
  • Prepare engineering estimates and project development plans in coordination with technical leads
  • Monitor project progress against key deliverables and provide regular status reports to DAO management and stakeholders

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Serve as the central coordination point between engineering, program management, sales, customers, and regulatory interfaces
  • Manage customer communications and coordinate technical information exchanges for STC programs
  • Liaise with installers, vendors, and sub-contractors on project-related matters
  • Support proposal preparation, including scope definition, scheduling, and resource estimation

Documentation & Action Tracking

  • Maintain centralized action item tracking across concurrent STC programs and drive items to closure
  • Oversee documentation control and configuration management for certification deliverables
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of compliance documentation, including certification plans, compliance matrices, and project-specific deliverable registers
  • Ensure engineering documentation meets DAO quality standards and regulatory requirements before submission

Risk Management

  • Identify and track technical and programmatic risks; support mitigation and contingency planning
  • Escalate schedule or scope issues to DAO management in a timely manner
  • Support continuous improvement of DAO project management processes and tools

What You Bring

Candidate Must Have’s

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering project coordination or project management role.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent programs simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interface effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience with project scheduling and tracking tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with Jira for project tracking and Confluence for documentation management
  • Experience authoring and managing technical documentation in a regulated development environment

This will make you stand out

  • Avionics or aerospace industry experience is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification processes (STC, TC, supplemental approval) and regulatory frameworks (TCCA, FAA)
  • Experience with certification planning documentation (compliance matrices, certification plans, stage-gate reviews)
  • Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, or ARP4754A standards
  • PMP or similar project management certification
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama) is an asset
