Job description

About Us

Life is complicated enough. At Akash Homes, we believe building a home shouldn’t be. We’ve grown fast by doing things differently - removing surprises, prioritizing quality, and delivering homes that feel as good as they look. We’re scaling quickly across Western Canada, and we need people who are ready to dig in and help shape what comes next.

If you haven’t heard of us: Akash Homes is a homebuilder headquartered in Edmonton, with active communities in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. We have an ambitious growth trajectory—and we’ve doubled year over year. We’re now one of the top 5 builders by permits in Edmonton and top 20 in Calgary. We’ve grown from a small (but mighty) team of 17 in 2023 to over 75 in 2025 (and counting). This kind of growth isn’t just about the numbers—it’s about the culture we’re building, the people we're investing in, and the momentum we’re proud to sustain.

The Role

We are seeking a Junior Architectural Technologist for Akash Homes, based in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Opportunity

This role is an opportunity to build a strong foundation within a fast-paced residential production drafting environment. You’ll support the preparation, coordination, and revision of residential construction drawings across multiple markets while learning how a high-growth homebuilder operates behind the scenes.

This is not a conceptual design role. Success in this position comes from precision, consistency, communication, and the ability to manage structured production work efficiently.

You’ll work closely with a collaborative team that values accountability, initiative, and continuous improvement. With opportunities to grow your technical knowledge, construction understanding, and production drafting capabilities over time.

One year at Akash Homes is like three years elsewhere. Our pace of growth creates opportunities to learn quickly, take ownership early, and gain exposure across drafting, construction, estimating, sales, and operations.

Top 3 Priorities for Your First 6 Months

Learn and execute Akash Homes drafting standards, workflows, and production processes quickly and accurately Manage assigned production drafting tasks and revisions while maintaining strong attention to detail and communication Support architectural control submissions, engineering coordination, and cross-functional collaboration across active projects

What You’ll Own

Preparing and revising residential construction drawings using Archicad and related drafting software Modifying plans to align with lot conditions, grading requirements, architectural controls, and municipal guidelines Coordinating drawing revisions with engineering consultants and internal departments Supporting architectural control submissions and responding to revision requests Managing assigned drafting queues and supporting production timelines across multiple active projects Collaborating with estimating, construction, sales, and operations teams to support project execution Maintaining organized project documentation, revision tracking, and drawing records Participating in site visits and learning opportunities to strengthen residential construction knowledge Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards and workflow efficiency

What You’ll Bring

We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds. What matters most is your attention to detail, accountability, and willingness to contribute to a collaborative and evolving finance team.

Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent from NAIT, SAIT, or a related institution Working knowledge of Archicad or similar BIM/CAD software Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a production-focused environment Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across teams A proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and communicate blockers early Interest in residential construction, production drafting, and continuous learning

We’re less concerned about checking every box and more interested in your ability to contribute, learn, and grow with the business. That said, the following would be considered assets:

Exposure to residential homebuilding or construction environments Familiarity with Alberta residential building code requirements Experience or exposure to architectural control submission processes Co-op, practicum, or work placement experience related to drafting or construction Experience coordinating consultant or engineering drawings

Compensation and Benefits

Some highlights of our total compensation at Akash Homes are:

Competitive salary based on experience Extended health benefits including dental and visio Matching RRSP program Flexible time policies and personal support for life outside of work Continuing education and training support

As Akash Homes continues to scale, we are committed to investing in a compensation and benefits package that supports our employees’ success and well-being.

Thank you to all who apply. Only those considered for an interview will be contacted.
