Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Electrical Field Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Kitimat, British Columbia.

Worley requires a Field Electrical Engineer for a mining project to support construction at site for the next 2 years starting immediately. The person should be familiar with low voltage and medium voltage Compressor, blowers, Substation equipment and distribution and associated instrumentation & controls.

The candidate will support construction and interface with the customer and coordinate with the rest of the project team.

Self-motivated individuals with a desire to solve complex engineering problems, show effective team leadership and communication skills will be ideally suitable for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the site Electrical Construction group and supporting overall project objectives.
  • Serve as Field Engineer and work with other home office engineers, designers or drafting.
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Diagnose problems and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Interpret the design drawings and support construction questions.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines and the client.
  • Familiarity of applicable codes and Mining standards to support engineering deliverables.
  • Familiarity of client standards and ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Support quality assurance.
  • Develop appropriate solutions to site issues and problems.
  • Resolves discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, with Client and Contractor.
  • Participate in the professional development of less experienced members of the department/team.

Work Arrangement:

  • Residential role based in Kitimat or Terrace, BC (not FIFO).
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime required as project demands dictate.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Company provided accommodation and vehicle.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

  • 10 - 15 years of engineering experience in electrical engineering.
  • Extensive experience working on-site, directing on-site functions, and enhancing efficiency and customer service.
  • Your technical expertise will assist organization in increasing client satisfaction, improving efficiency, managing risk, diagnosing problems, and complying with laws and regulations.
  • Possess excellent technical skills, be a good communicator, and pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Leadership role supporting site teams.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation would be an asset/preferable.
  • Previous site experience preferred and will be an asset.
  • Experience in Minerals and Metals industry will be an asset.
  • Surface and U/G Mining Experience including shaft sinking, subsurface utilities.
  • Familiar with digital tools, digitization and data acquisition experience are an asset.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of the following deliverables.MV and LV systems.HV knowledge an asset/preferable.Single line diagrams, schematics, interconnection and wiring diagram.Layouts – lighting and grounding, cable routing design.Substation and MCC design.Area classification per code requirements.Electrical calculations.HVAC, Ventilation, and Fire Alarm/control system Experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
  • Team player, with excellent organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design software.
  • Basic knowledge of SmartPlant Electrical software.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • University graduate in Electrical Engineering or Applied Science.
  • Minimum Ten (10) years of direct Electrical design and engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience.
  • P. Eng (BC) designation preferred or to be able to register.


For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $93,000 to $131,000
