Job description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Red Seal Electrician to support electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation activities at a large wastewater treatment facility in Burnaby, BC (Lake City). This role is essential to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical infrastructure while supporting environmental protection and clean water initiatives across the region.

This is a full-time temporary opportunity with an expected end date of December 31, 2026, offering consistent hours and the chance to work in a highly regulated, industrial environment.

The ideal candidate is a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician with experience in industrial environments such as wastewater treatment plants, utilities, or heavy infrastructure facilities. They are safety-focused, technically skilled, and capable of independently troubleshooting and maintaining complex electrical systems critical to continuous operations. Organized and detail-oriented, they communicate effectively with operations and maintenance teams, maintain accurate technical documentation, support planning activities, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement, including mentoring apprentices.

Position Title : Red Seal Journeyman Electrician

Location : Burnaby, BC (Lake City)

Permanent Position with Metro Vancouver on 1 year contract basis

Schedule : Monday to Friday

Shifts : 7 : 00AM - 4 : 00PM

Wage : $48.87 / H + 6.25% deferred compensation on all hours worked, redeemable as pay or time off

Red Seal certification

Demonstrated experience performing electrical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics in an industrial or utility environment is required.

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on electrical proficiency are considered key assets for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems and complex equipment across industrial facilities

Fabricate, wire, and install electrical control systems, solid-state components, motors, lighting, and low, medium, and high-voltage power equipment

Plan and execute work activities independently, including determining the appropriate work approach and sourcing required materials

Prepare detailed sketches and maintain accurate technical drawings, blueprints, and documentation

Support supervisors with cost estimating, work scheduling, and planning of electrical maintenance activities

Complete and submit accurate work progress reports in a timely manner

Assist in the training, mentorship, and development of apprentice Electricians

Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure safe work practices

Qualifications

Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Possess a valid BC (or Interprovincial) Trade Qualification Certificate as a Journeyperson Electrician (Red Seal is an asset).

Ability to provide and use your own standard hand tools required for electrical maintenance.

Experience working in a heavy industrial, municipal, or utility environment is highly desirable.

Proven expertise in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting in a heavy industrial or municipal setting, preferably within Wastewater Services.

Strong knowledge of motors, controls, pneumatics, electronics, solid-state (hydraulics) controls, and computer interface systems.

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings, and blueprints.

Exceptional planning and organizational skills for self-managing work and materials sourcing.

Safety-focused approach to all tasks, with a strong understanding of relevant electrical codes and standards.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for report writing and team collaboration.

Basic draughting skills for preparing sketches and updating facility prints.

You can provide references and pass a background check
