Job description
About Our Client:
We are partnering with a global leader in urban mobility and infrastructure technology. Their engineering solutions move billions of people daily across the globe, keeping major Canadian transit hubs, commercial centers, and high-rises running smoothly. They combine a rich, century-long legacy with cutting-edge tech, prioritizing a culture of safety, mentorship, and high ethical standards. They are looking for a key leadership figure to head up their field team in Calgary.

The Role in a Nutshell:
As the Field Supervisor for New Installations (NI) & Modernizations (MOD), you won't just be sitting behind a desk. You will be the bridging force between project management and field execution. Your primary mission is to oversee capital equipment installation and modernization projects across the Calgary area, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the absolute highest quality standards.

This is a people-first role where coaching, mentoring, and maintaining a stellar safety culture are just as important as hit-list deliverables.

Advantages
What’s in It for You?
- Our client values the hard work and diverse perspectives their team brings, and they believe in rewarding it well.
- Compensation: Competitive base salary matched to your experience level.
- Bonus Structures: Comprehensive bonus incentive programs or commission plans.
- Growth: Substantial professional and leadership development opportunities to advance your career.
- Health & Wellness: Extensive extended health, vision, and dental plans, along with generous paid time off.
- Future Security: Competitive Group RRSP with an excellent company matching program.
- Education Support: A tuition reimbursement program to support continuous learning.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead & Mentor in the Field: Provide hands-on guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to unionized field technicians. You’ll be their go-to for technical and safety coaching, helping them grow while ensuring work quality is top-notch.
- Safety First, Always: Drive a proactive safety culture. You will conduct regular safety audits, investigate near-misses, ensure proper PPE compliance, and spearhead early and safe return-to-work programs.
- Project & Budget Ownership: Keep a close eye on the numbers. You’ll manage technician manpower and project milestones within a set financial budget to maximize operational efficiency.
- Quality Control: Monitor job checkpoints to ensure all work adheres to ISO standards, local government regulations, and internal safety protocols. If there’s a gap, you'll be the one implementing the corrective action.
- Client & Labor Relations: Build strong, professional relationships with external clients, inspectors, and Union business agents, stepping in as a collaborative problem solver when disputes arise.

Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table:
- Industry Foundation: 3 to 5 years of experience in the elevator/escalator industry or a closely related sector involving the supervision of heavy capital equipment installation.
- Educational Background: A post-secondary degree, ideally focused on Engineering or Project Management.
- Natural Leadership: You know how to guide, motivate, and hold a team accountable. You have an innate ability to solve complex technical and interpersonal problems on the fly.
- Labor Savvy: Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to work independently and manage pro-active relationships with Union representatives.
- Tech Comfort: Good familiarity with the basics—MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Project.
- Flexibility: A self-motivated attitude and the willingness to work flexible hours as project timelines and business demands dictate.
