The Hydraulic Engineer will be involved in a variety of water management activities as part of mining and road infrastructure projects at different stages of development. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating, developing, delivering, and reviewing hydraulic studies for our various clients.

The Engineer will be responsible for assessing site-specific conditions in order to guide the design of hydraulic structures.

The Engineer will also act as a mentor to Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and intermediate engineers and will be responsible for supervising and reviewing technical work.

The successful candidate will support existing resources across various disciplines, including mining hydrology, road networks, bridges and structures, railway networks, environmental engineering, and more.

What will your contribution be as part of the team?

  • Conduct, coordinate, and review stormwater management studies for a variety of projects;

  • Conduct, coordinate, and review hydrological studies to assess site-specific conditions and establish water balances;

  • Conduct dam and dyke breach analyses involving water and mine tailings;

  • Conduct, coordinate, and review hydraulic studies for bridges and watercourse modifications;

  • Design hydraulic structures for water management, including preparation of construction drawings (stormwater networks, ditches, culverts, retention and sedimentation ponds, constructed wetlands, etc.);

  • Design hydraulic structures for watercourses, including preparation of construction drawings (fish passage structures, watercourse modifications, spillways, erosion protection measures, etc.);

  • Conduct, coordinate, and review other studies related to river hydraulics (erosion/sedimentation issues, watercourse management, bank stabilization, etc.);

  • Manage projects and/or project teams;

  • Participate in the preparation of proposals;

  • Support existing resources across various disciplines as required.

Our essentials

  • University degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in hydrology, hydraulics, or an equivalent field;

  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or P.Eng;

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French;

  • Proficiency in English is important in order to support our English-speaking teams in British Columbia and Western Canada;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying scope and complexity;

  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD, PCSWMM, HY-8, and HEC-RAS;

  • Good knowledge of Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) standards and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) guidelines for watercourse crossings;

  • Good knowledge of Directive 019;

  • Good knowledge of the Guide de gestion des eaux pluviales and REAFIE;

  • Experience with FLO-2D is an asset;

  • Experience with HEC-HMS and HYFRAN is an asset;

  • Experience with QGIS or ArcGIS is an asset;

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field is an asset;

  • Experience in an engineering consulting firm is an asset;

  • Experience in the design of municipal water management infrastructure is an asset.
