Responsibilities
The candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of projects for new hydro power generating units and for the rehabilitation of existing facilities. As a member of the balance of plant engineering team responsible for the unit instrumentation, electrical systems and auxiliary systems, the tasks and responsibilities include :
- Review technical specifications for contracts, identify design requirements and develop concepts for solutions and systems.
- Supervise designers and actively participate in the preparation and production of engineering documents such as block diagrams, instrument lists, electrical diagrams, instrument installation details, wiring routing drawings, cable lists, P&ID diagram and control panel specifications, while ensuring that engineering concepts and works comply with technical specifications and the requirements of applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate with various engineering teams, suppliers and customers for the integration of applicable equipment systems.
- Produce technical specifications for electrical equipment and review associated shop drawings.
- Carry out engineering instructions for work or inspection at the plant.
- Monitor and update the budget and engineering schedule with the project teams.
- Organize and participate in design reviews.
- Check and seal the technical documentation produced under supervision.
- Provide technical support for the installation on site.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of design tools and rules.
- Participate in problem solving and identification of root causes.
- Prepare technical documentation for submissions.
