CIMA+ is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings team in Grande Prairie. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a wide variety of building projects across Northern Alberta. You will work closely with engineers, technologists, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while supporting the continued growth of CIMA+’s local presence in the region.
This role offers a balance of technical design, project coordination, and field engagement, including site visits and construction support for projects throughout Northern Alberta. You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model that includes flexible work hours, working from home and in our Grande Prairie AB office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for buildings including lighting, power distribution, communications, security, and fire alarm systems
- Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and models using Revit and AutoCAD
- Perform electrical design calculations and assist with equipment selection and system layouts
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines
- Conduct site visits and field investigations to review existing conditions and support construction activities
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, and project teams
- Support proposal preparation and contribute to project planning activities
- Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities
- Assist in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the development of the local engineering team
- Directly engage with clients to understand project needs and maintain strong business relationships
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Grande Prairie Buildings practice
Qualifications
- Eligible for membership with APEGA – P.Eng. or P.L.Eng.
- Over 6 years' experience in electrical engineering in the buildings sector
- Demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required
- Valid Canadian drivers licence with access to transportation for site reviews and inspections
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in the English language
- Experience mentoring junior technical staff is an asset
