Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Mechanical Engineer - HVAC & Facilities to join our client's engineering team in Fort McMurray. This role supports the safe and reliable operation of industrial facilities and occupied buildings, with a strong focus on HVAC systems and facility utilities that protect people, equipment, and production.
As a key technical resource, you will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to deliver practical, field-ready engineering solutions across production facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and other safety-critical areas.
  • Location: Fort McMurray, AB
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Job type: Temporary | Full-time | 8-month contract

Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Engineering Support
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for HVAC and facility systems across industrial and production environments.
  • Provide engineering support related to:
    • Ventilation, heating, cooling, pressurization, and air quality systems
    • Plumbing and utility systems, including:
      • Emergency showers & eyewash systems
      • Domestic and industrial plumbing
      • Natural gas systems
      • Fuel and lube systems
      • Compressed air systems
Operations Support & Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot HVAC and facility issues including airflow, temperature control, pressurization, and equipment reliability concerns.
  • Respond to day-to-day operational needs for assigned production areas.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to develop practical, executable engineering solutions.
Engineering Documentation & Quality
  • Prepare and review engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) activities for HVAC, plumbing, and facility system modifications.
  • Conduct field walkdowns, condition assessments, and deficiency reviews.
Project & Lifecycle Support
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and turnover of new or modified HVAC and utility systems.
  • Provide engineering input into maintenance strategies and long-term asset lifecycle planning.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably within the oil & gas sector with an HVAC focus.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and facility utility system design, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable working in an operating plant with regular field-based activities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supporting production-aligned engineering roles.
  • Knowledge of Alberta codes and standards governing HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Experience with MOC processes, commissioning, or facilities asset management.
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
