SUMMARY
Reporting to the Service Innovation and Implementation Lead, the Service Development Coordinator provides support in the exploration, development, implementation and evaluation of Kickstand’s Care Service streams being offered across the Kickstand Network. They are responsible for working in close collaboration with the Kickstand Provincial Implementation Team to enhance service delivery through the creation and implementation of Kickstand’s stepped care model and developing service pathways so that a young person accessing services gets access to evidence based support at the right time, provided by the right provider. The Service Development Coordinator contributes to setting strategic priorities for the Kickstand Network and is responsible for developing and maintaining supportive relationships with community partners and stakeholders to create a shared vision, facilitate co-location and integration of care options, and enhance understanding and adoption of the integrated youth services model. They provide input into the development, evaluation, and implementation of all Kickstand services.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Explore and develop priority areas for the expansion of Kickstand Connect services and supports including, but not limited to, relationship building with internal and external stakeholders, completing consultation with youth health leaders and experts, reviewing best practices for young people across Kickstand’s core service domains with a focus on mental health, co-creating service delivery strategies with young people and families / caregivers, and conceptualizing integration opportunities across service streams,
- Planning and guiding implementation of services and supports within the Kickstand Network with a focus on ensuring a positive help‑seeking experience for services users and maximizing impact of Kickstand on individual health and wellness,
- Creation of resources, guides, training, and policies and procedures to support the ongoing delivery of high quality, inclusive, integrated, easily accessible and effective services and supports,
- Maintain close collaboration with Kickstand’s Provincial Implementation Team to share learnings and maximize efficiencies for service delivery implementation across in‑person and virtual care,
- Actively work with the Virtual Service Development Specialist with the goal of continually increasing the value and impact of virtual care to the Kickstand Network,
- Actively participate in Kickstand’s Clinical Working Groups to inform service development,
- Participate with all relevant research and evaluation activities for Kickstand that align with the creation of a learning health system and inform rapid and responsive quality improvement activities,
- Operationalize Kickstand’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion through all facets of Kickstand Connect’s development,
- Work in cooperation with the Indigenous Implementation Lead and Kickstand’s EDID Working Group as appropriate to co‑create acceptable care solutions for young Indigenous Albertans that can be integrated into the Kickstand Network,
- Collaborate on the exploration and implementation of a framework for clinical student placements at Kickstand Centres, including appropriate supervision, education and support, and evaluation,
- Collaborate with the Kickstand Provincial Implementation Team to explore and arrange education and training related to mental health and substance use and other professional development opportunities that will enhance the quality of Kickstand Connect services,
- Maintain knowledge of developments / best practices in provision of mental health and substance use services and supports through reviewing the literature, consulting with clinical and community experts within the field, and participating in professional development and continuing education activities to improve care through new practices,
- Actively review, monitor and participate in reporting Kickstand Network metrics including appointment statistics, demographic trends, registration information, and health metrics and utilize this information to inform strategic decisions and the growth and enhancement of Kickstand services and supports,
- Participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of Kickstand Centres by collaborating with members of the interprofessional team, providing input and making recommendations to the Executive Director as requested.
