Job Summary
The Communication & Design Specialist assists with the design, development and implementation of integrated communication strategies in the Faculty of Dentistry.
Organizational Status
The Communication & Design Specialist will work in close consultation with the Senior Manager, Communications and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni. They will also work closely with staff, faculty, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Work Performed
Graphic Design
- Designs print and digital materials, including event invitations, digital signage, social media graphics, posters, postcards, reports, brochures, presentations, and various other promotional assets in line with the UBC Dentistry brand and with attention to audience needs.
- Co‑ordinates with printers and vendors.
- Develops templates that help accelerate production and unify the look and feel of communications materials.

Errors can have significant negative impacts on the achievement of Dentistry's strategic goals as well as its reputation.
Supervision Received
Reports to and takes direction for day‑to‑day operations from the Senior Manager, Communications. The position works autonomously under general guidelines.
Supervision Given
May assign tasks and provide guidance to student employees as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of four years experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional experience in a post‑secondary institution or similar environment is a strong asset.
