Title of Course

Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

  • Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ hour.

  • Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour.

  • In cases whereadditionalduties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at theappropriate TeachingAssistant rate.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications

•Previous experience as a TA and knowledge of the following software:
•Must have knowledge of the data mining software – WEKA (I would probably take this point out – not sure it applies to my course – sorry for any confusion).
•Must have knowledge of DB applications, particularly:MS-ACCESS & MS SQL SERVER
•Must be familiar with the basic functions of D2L to guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files with tasks related to lab practices, assignments and lab tests.

•Must have background in Database Management and Database design, including basic concepts of Relational Databases and Database Normalization theories.
