Hello Nannies and Au Pairs :) My Name is Alex M, and I am a 41 year old English-speaking Single Mom (of 2 Kids (and 2 CATS)), and Medical Doctor (Emergency Medicine Specialist), from South Africa. I am moving to Canada (Red Deer, Alberta), in mid-August 2026 (my Kids will be starting School there in September 2026), as I am starting my new job (at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Emergency Centre), on 28 September 2026. My Kids are: Max (14 year old Boy, Born in June 2011) and Anoushka (11 year old Girl, Born in September 2014). Max is a bundle of confident expression - He tends to proudly wave his "freak flag" high; He is very creative, and loves to design doll fashion and build structures with lego / other materials; He also loves playing Minecraft and Sims, and sadly spends far too much time on electronic devices, rather than reading, which is also a passion of his; He is very intelligent, but has ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, so needs supervision and a strict routine to function at his best. Anoushka is much more shy and soft-spoken, but has a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humour; She is incredibly artistic, and draws remarkably well; She also loves to sing and dance, but also sadly spends too much time on electronic devices, and I am trying to get her to read a bit more - She has recently started journalling and writing stories though, which I am very happy about. I am hoping to find a Residence close to the Hospital (as well as the Schools that the Kids will be attending) - I would prefer a Nanny / Au Pair who could be live-in (as there will be nights you will need to stay-over), but being live-out is not a deal-breaker. My needs are for Child-care while I am on Shift (My Shifts will vary from day-to-day, and month-to-month, but I would share them with you a month in advance, so that you can plan accordingly). This Child-care will include: Dropping off and picking up the Kids from School (as well as from Extra-mural Lessons), on many of the days - It would be preferable for you to be able to drive and have your own car (or, to have a good understanding of the Red Deer Public Transport System); Feeding the Kids (Mostly Lunch, but often Breakfast (and, occasionally prepping Dinner for Me and the Kids)) - It would be preferable if you are able to cook healthy and delicious meals; and, Assisting with Homework in the Afternoons, as well as Entertaining the Kids, and ensuring they stick to their Afternoon and Evening Routines. Salary (or Pocket Money, if you will be living with us permanently), is negotiable. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you (This will have to be via Video-Call initially, and, in-person once we have arrived in Canada in mid-August 2026).
