Corporate Secretary

Under the direction and in support of Hydro One’s General Counsel, the Corporate Secretary is accountable for leading a team supporting the company’s Board of Directors; ensuring the integrity of the company’s governance framework, as well as compliance with the company’s regulatory and statutory requirements, and implementing decisions made by the Company’s Board of Directors. The Corporate Secretary ensures the efficient administration of the Board of Directors, and provides strategic, practical advice to the Board of Directors.

Education and Experience :

  • 10 plus years related experience working for a publicly traded company with a Bachelor’s degree in law; a combination of education and related work experience will also be considered
  • Strong executive presence and demonstrated experience working in a similar capacity, leading governance and Board relations
  • Demonstrated corporate ethics experience considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of corporate and securities law
  • Superior verbal / written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex issues through sound judgement and advanced problem-solving
  • Must be able to work in a capacity with strict privacy and confidentiality requirements both inside and outside the organization
  • Demonstrates dedication to providing quality work through attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge and related experience with corporate governance and subsidiary governance (i.e. establishing relevant frameworks)
  • Previous supervisory experience (managing / leading teams of senior professionals)
  • Flexible and committed team player who is client service oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize while preserving composure effectively managing multiple deadlines and capable of working under pressure
