Job description

Our client, Waycon Manufacturing Ltd., based in Penticton, BC, is a leading industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer serving clients across North America. Known for delivering high-quality, custom-built solutions, they support a wide range of industries from a two-acre facility equipped with advanced in-house machinery, state-of-the-art tooling, and cutting-edge engineering technology. Their capabilities span concept design, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and testing.

They are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join their team as a CNC Machinist Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in machining, gain hands-on experience, and progress into a fully funded apprenticeship program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Begin with entry-level tasks, such as keeping the work area clean and organized;
  • Assist with operations on CNC plasma and waterjet machines, including material handling duties;
  • Learn to load and unload CNC machines during job runs, gaining practical, hands-on experience;
  • Work alongside skilled tradespeople to develop foundational machining skills;
  • Demonstrate dedication and commitment as you progress into the CNC Machinist Apprentice program.

Requirements

  • Strong desire to learn and grow technical skills in machining;
  • Mechanical aptitude, with hands-on experience such as tinkering with car projects or similar activities;
  • Basic understanding of measurements and machining processes is a plus, with a strong eagerness to learn prioritized;
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team;
  • Positive attitude and commitment to doing the job correctly.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive pay ($20.00 - $25.00/hour) during your training period, with progression as skills develop;
  • Opportunity to enroll in a fully funded 4-year CNC Machinist Apprenticeship program;
  • Comprehensive dental and health insurance coverage for you and your family;
  • Allowances for boots and personal protective equipment to ensure safety and comfort;
  • Premium incentives for First Aid certification, afternoon shifts, and overtime opportunities;
  • Full-time hours with every second Friday off to support work-life balance;
  • Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth.

If you are motivated to start your career in CNC machining and want to learn from experienced tradespeople in a supportive and dynamic environment, our client would love to hear from you. This is a long-term opportunity to build your skills and grow within a respected, forward-thinking manufacturer. We look forward to receiving your application!
