The Opportunity
Mosaic is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Northwest Bay Production Crew based out of our Nanoose Bay, BC operation on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The Role
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will work as part of a team providing quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance services.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain Boom Boats, loaders, and other heavy logging equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions;
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using deduction and testing equipment to determine extent of repair required; and
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

This is a full-time position that will primarily work the afternoon shift, with occasional day or swing shifts as operationally required.

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is a safety sensitive role.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice;
  • A level 3 first aid ticket would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in fast paced environments; and
  • Experience with Finning and/or Kenworth equipment and/or other logging equipment will be considered an asset.

CompensationThe hourly rate for Heavy Duty Mechanics per the United Steel Worker (USW) Collective Agreement ranges between $43.72 and $51.43 per hour, contingent on ticket level.
