Job description
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site, and together we provide outstanding, integrated care to support people in living their healthiest lives.

ROLE

As an Echocardiography Sonographer in Diagnostic Imaging, you will provide and maintain efficient and effective echocardiography service to the public in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.

  • Be capable of working both independently as well as a member of the diagnostic imaging team and other staff members of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) in accordance with the Department’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure the safe and proper usage of sonography and other equipment required during echocardiography imaging and procedures in accordance with regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patients with dignity and respect regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age, type of illness or mental or physical challenges.
  • Apply the knowledge, skill and judgment to perform all procedures for out patients, hospital and emergency department patients.
  • Produce echocardiography images of the highest quality.
  • MAHC strongly supports the growth and development of staff through education and clinical experience. Training to perform echocardiography related imaging, procedures and associated tasks will be supported and/or provided.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Graduate of a recognized echocardiography training program
  • Certified and registered with CMRITO
  • Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (Sonography Canada) membership preferred
  • BLS certification preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of echocardiography techniques in both theory and practice
  • Sound knowledge of and appropriate skills to operate all equipment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, staff members and physicians
  • Excellent organization skills to perform required duties effectively and in a timely manner
  • The ability to prioritize exams to meet both the needs of the patient as well as the department
  • Knowledge of proper lifting procedures
  • Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Hours of Work: Currently, shifts are 8 hours in length Monday to Friday. Hours and shifts may change according to departmental requirements and per the collective agreement.
