JOB SUMMARY:

The Designer will be responsible for preparing layout, assembly, and detail drawings for various company products and custom projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets and other data. The Designer will review plans and confer with internal and external stakeholders to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets..

JOB DUTIES

• Design and prepare layout, assembly, and detail drawings for company standard products and custom client-specific projects from measurements, sketches and specifications
• Organize and maintain a design and CAD digital file for each project.
• Revise computer-aided designs and plans and convert them to 3D drawings in Inventor
• Collaborate with departmental personnel to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements
• Brainstorm as part of a team to improve and/or develop design concepts using CAD or Inventor (computer-aided design), and other traditional design tools
• Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
• Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues
• Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
• Performs related duties as needed or assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Mechanical or Structural Engineering or design related post-secondary certificate or diploma
• Proficiency in Autodesk’s Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD software
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook software.
• Proven analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate them required.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of materials for sheet metal manufacturing.
• Strong interpersonal, and written skills
• Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time and scale
• Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
• Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Able to work with minimal supervision

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Ability to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Ability to be exposed to a production environment.
• Overtime as required.
